We all talk about Lifestyle but what is it actually?

Savings and promotions to suit youe lifestyle

We talk a lot about lifestyle these days and as we've said it's multi-faceted. Yet despite the difficulty in pinning down the actual meaning we all have a pretty good idea what we mean by it even if our individual interpretations may vary a lot. Lifestyle has always existed although the term itself has only come into common use in the latter part of the 20th Century.

We can take an overall view and say with some confidence that the lifestyle of the medieval peasant was extremely harsh with little to commend it. That's from our modern perspective of course. Contrast that with the opulent, indeed extravagant lifestyle of the 21st century professional footballer. Most of us fall somewhere in between those two extremes.

Health and fitness are an important aspect of the whole concept. We hear that poor old Suchabody's died suddenly at an unnaturally early age and we say, "Well you can't wonder at it really when you look at his lifestyle!" So think on and stick to a healthy lifestyle!

But its so much more isn't it? You may be thinking of the house someone lives in and what they have in it. The swimming pools, hot tubs, home gyms in the basements are all part of the whole picture, along with the big cars and yachts. On  the other hand the small house with simple furniture and fittings and the small car or no car, just a bike, we would say are signs of a much more frugal lifestyle.

So it goes both ways from the most basic to the most luxurious, from the most dissipated to the healthiest and everything in between. So many things play a part. The way you earn your living, how you spend your leisure time, your religious beliefs, indeed your virtues and vices, all go together to form your particular lifestyle.

Whatever floats your boat, as they say, you'll find all you need on the internet. We aim to save you time and money by giving you links to some sites that we hope you'll find useful. If a glamorous lifestyle is your thing have a look at www.glam.ac.uk/lifestyle . For a more general site with perhaps less emphasis on the glamour you might visit www.lifestylexperts.com . If it's all getting a bit fraught and you'd like someone to manage your lifestyle for you or just to help you manage it yourself click on www.cushiontheimpact.co.uk . If you're a member of the Muslim community you may have lifestyle considerations related to your faith. A visit to www.emelmagazine.com might be well worthwhile for you.

Visits to comparison sites are always a good idea so you could do a lot worse than to go and have a look at www.store.warc.com/DisplaySection. www.kent.ac.uk/CHSS/toolkit/index is another one you could try.

The internet itself has become an essential part of our lifestyle for many of us once we learned to live with it. It can make us all a bit sedentary of course because using it we can visit all the places mentioned plus lots more without getting off our comfortable chairs. Be honest though. That's why we love it!
